🪄 The Witchery by S. Isabelle — 07/26/22🪄 🪄 The Witchery by S. Isabelle — 07/26/22🪄
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You know when you finish a book and you’re immediately like where’s the sequel? The Witchery left me satisfied but also wanting to know more about what was going to happen to our main characters.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was such an entertaining read, and it truly had so many elements I loved:
🪄 Us versus Them
🪄 Betrayals
🪄 Romance (and begrudging romance)
🪄 Talk of privilege
🪄 Tense and scary action scenes
🪄 Lots of witchy magic and a dive into the different types
🪄Enjoyable characters with fascinating backstories (some darker than others 🫢)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There were six POVs in the story, but each character voice was distinct, so once I got into the flow of the story it was easier to remember who was who. I love multi-pov, and I think it gave a lot of fresh perspective to the story. Overall, if you’re into witchy books, I would recommend giving this one a try!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*Thanks to @scholasticinc and @coloredpagesblogtours for the ARC. All opinions are my own*

I think we all knew another #PrideMonth post was c I think we all knew another #PrideMonth post was coming. I’m on the train 🚂 and I ain’t getting off 🙅🏽‍♀️. So imagine my surprise when this package arrived with even more reading material. Thank you to @FierceReads for this lovely 🌈 package.

I’d only heard of Just Your Local Bisexual Disaster, but I’m quite a fan of ladies with swords, so Valiant Ladies seems like a must. And When You Call My Name is about “two gay teens coming of age in New York City in 1990 at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic” which is something I never read about, so I’m very excited for that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It also came with Netgalley QR Codes for the The Sunbearer Trials, which I’m v excited for, and We Deserve Monuments, which I finished today and loved more than words can describe.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If y’all have any pride recs please let me know cause I lowkey forgot how nice it is reading on my Kindle, and I wanna start an ebook to read before bed.

🪓All That’s Left in the World by Erik J. Brown — 3/8/22🪓
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Keeping my #PrideMonth train going, this is the second book I finished this month, and oh was I a big fan. I love postapocalyptic stories in general, but this queer slow burn was just exactly what the genre and my heart needed. I absolutely devoured this book in a few hours, and need more books from the author.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Things I loved
🪓Dual POV
🪓Two teens doing scary things that never should have been asked of them but doing it anyway because there’s no other options
🪓Andrew’s humor was to die for. The innuendos and modern references were just the cherry on top
🪓Questioning Rep
🪓Andrew’s play by play explanations of movies to Jamison
🪓The look at how pandemics shape human nature
🪓Can never get enough of characters having to travel by foot and camp and the paranoia that ensues
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Would definitely recommend if you love friendship stories and seeing the lengths someone will go to to protect the people they love.

✨The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics by Olivia Waite — 7/23/19✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Surprise! I’m back from an unintentional hiatus. The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics was such a good choice to get back into reading for fun again and to start out #PrideMonth. I enjoyed Lucy and Catherine’s tender relationship, and the way they grew both personally and interpersonally, spurred by the care, independence, and encouragement they gave each other to pursue their dreams.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Things I specifically loved:
✨ The debates about what art and science are and who can call themselves an artist or scientist
✨ Hidden Figures vibes
✨ The importance of consent and enjoyment to the main characters
✨ The nitty gritty details about the galaxy that felt very accessible and understandable
✨ The reminder of how annoying men are, especially in the olden days of them not thinking women were capable of anything outside of the home
✨ The mention of how destructive white explorers can be to native populations and their customs and homes
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Would recommend this book if you’re looking for a WLW Historical Romance with interesting characters and a lowkey plot. This was my first book by the author, but I definitely would read more.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fun Fact: I picked this book up 8 times and used a bookmark none of those times. 10/10 would recommend using a bookmark instead of having to remember where you left off.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨Thank you to Avon for the finished copy. All opinions are my own.✨
